Almost half of UK bill payers prefer Direct Debit because it has so many advantages. So what exactly is Direct Debit? It's a simple way to pay regular and occasional bills and it's all done automatically, so you don't have to worry. And not only is it convenient for you, it's also really simple and safe!
All you have to do is set up a Direct Debit Instruction with the organisation you wish to pay, agreeing the amount and date the payment will be collected from your bank or building society. Once that's done, the money is deducted regularly. But don't worry - they can only take the amount you've agreed, and if they want to change the amount or date of collection they have to tell to you about it first.
